Waterproof Cable Gland Product Series
Verchil waterproof cable gland product series covers metal, nylon and plastic structures for different enclosure sealing conditions. Each cable gland should be matched according to the mounting hole thread, cable outer diameter, material requirement, IP rating and installation environment.
For model confirmation, send the mounting hole thread, cable outer diameter, cable type, material requirement and installation environment to Verchil. Our team will help match the suitable waterproof cable gland series.
How to Choose the Right Waterproof Cable Gland
1. Confirm the Cable Outer Diameter
The sealing ring must match the cable outer diameter. If the cable is too small, the gland may not compress the sheath correctly. If the cable is too large, the seal, claw or gland body may be damaged during installation.
2. Match the Mounting Thread
The thread should match the enclosure opening. Verchil waterproof cable glands are available with Metric, PG, G/PF and NPT thread options. Metric thread is widely used for new equipment openings, while PG and NPT are commonly used in specific regional or legacy equipment designs.
3. Select the Right Material
Nylon PA6 cable glands are suitable for general outdoor and industrial applications. Nickel-plated brass cable glands provide higher mechanical strength and better metal thread durability. Stainless steel SS304 or SS316 cable glands are recommended for marine, chemical, coastal and corrosive environments.
4. Confirm the Required IP Rating
The IP rating should match the real exposure level. IP65 is suitable for general outdoor spray protection. IP67 and IP68 options are used for stronger water exposure or temporary immersion conditions. The final sealing result depends on correct cable diameter matching and proper installation.
5. Check Whether Flexible Protection Is Required
For moving cables, vibration areas or equipment with frequent cable bending, a flexible waterproof cable gland can provide additional strain relief and reduce cable fatigue near the enclosure entry point.
6. Use Corrugated Pipe Glands for Conduit Entry
When cables are protected by corrugated pipe or flexible conduit, a corrugated pipe waterproof cable gland helps secure the conduit and maintain the enclosure sealing structure.
Nylon, Brass or Stainless Steel Cable Gland: Which Material Fits the Application?
The material of a waterproof cable gland directly affects strength, corrosion resistance, weight, cost and long-term sealing performance. Verchil supplies nylon PA6, nickel-plated brass and stainless steel cable glands for different enclosure and equipment requirements.

Why Waterproof Cable Glands Are Needed
A waterproof cable gland is used where a cable passes through an enclosure wall. It provides two important functions: environmental sealing and mechanical strain relief. The sealing ring compresses around the cable sheath to reduce water and dust ingress, while the clamping structure fixes the cable and reduces pulling force on internal wiring terminals.
Without a suitable cable gland, water may enter the enclosure through the cable opening, or cable movement may loosen the internal electrical connection. In outdoor, industrial and marine applications, the cable entry point should be treated as part of the complete waterproof system.
| Function | What It Does | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Environmental Sealing | Compresses the sealing ring around the cable sheath | Helps reduce water, dust and moisture ingress |
| Strain Relief | Fixes the cable mechanically at the enclosure entry point | Reduces pulling force on terminals and internal wiring |
| Vibration Resistance | Limits cable movement near the enclosure wall | Improves reliability in machinery and automation equipment |
| Cable Organization | Creates a clean and protected cable entry path | Improves installation safety and maintenance efficiency |

EV Charging and Outdoor Power Equipment
EV charging stations and outdoor power cabinets require reliable cable fixation and enclosure sealing. Waterproof cable glands help protect power cable entry points and reduce cable stress near internal terminals.
How to Install a Waterproof Cable Gland
Correct installation is essential for waterproof sealing and strain relief. Even a high-IP cable gland may fail if the cable diameter, thread size, gasket position or tightening force is incorrect.
- Confirm the mounting hole thread, such as Metric, PG, G/PF or NPT.
- Confirm the cable outer diameter and match it with the gland clamping range.
- Place the sealing washer or gasket on the enclosure side.
- Insert the cable gland through the enclosure opening.
- Tighten the lock nut to secure the gland body on the enclosure wall.
- Pass the cable through the gland body and sealing ring.
- Tighten the cap nut evenly until the seal compresses around the cable sheath.
- Check that the cable is fixed and the sealing ring is not twisted, cut or over-compressed.
Do not over-tighten the cap nut, because excessive force may deform the sealing ring or damage the thread. For outdoor or high-vibration applications, the cable gland should be checked after installation to confirm that the cable remains fixed and the enclosure entry point is fully sealed.

Waterproof Cable Gland FAQ
What thread specifications do you have?
We offer a full range of thread standards, including Metric thread(Metric/M series), German thread(PG series) and American thread(NPT series).
I don 't know whether to choose M series or PG series?
It mainly depends on the opening thread of your equipment. M series(metric) is the universal standard, pitch is 1.5mm ; pG series(German) are common in old equipment or some European equipment.
If it is a new opening, it is recommended to give priority to the M series.
What is IP68 here?
Our IP68 certification means that in the case of locking the cable, it is possible to prevent dust from entering and to keep the water from entering under the specified water pressure.
A circular cable with a suitable wire diameter must be used to achieve this effect, and a flat wire needs a special inner core.
How to choose the right model?
The selection of the model mainly depends on two points : one is the thread size of the mounting hole, and the other is the diameter of the cable(outer diameter).
Please select according to your cable thickness according to our 'clamping range' table.
Metal or nylon?
Nylon(plastic) is economical, corrosion-resistant, suitable for general indoor and outdoor use.
Nickel-plated brass and stainless steel(metal) have higher strength, impact resistance and higher appearance, which are suitable for heavy machinery.
Does it include locking nuts and gaskets?
Yes, our standard packaging usually contains the main body, lock nut(Lock Nut) and rubber gasket(O-ring / gasket), which can be directly installed.
If I have more than one cable, can I use a connector?
The standard joint is a hole through a line. If you have multiple flat or thin wires, we can customize the porous sealed rubber core to achieve a joint to wear multiple wires and keep waterproof.
